Disabilities Ministry

Connecting People to Jesus and one another

The Disabilities Ministry provides classes, groups, programs and more to allow people with disabilities to be active in the mission of Southeast Christian Church.

Resources, groups, and custom-designed classrooms are just a few of the ways Southeast becomes home for people with disabilities. Our hope is that you will connect to Jesus and one another through these ministries. We also offer support in various forms for parents and caregivers.

For Children

Children from birth through 5th grade with special needs are encouraged to attend classes on weekends during regular service hours. We offer a variety of assistance to allow children to be integrated with children of similar ages. A classroom/sensory room is also available for children who would learn better in a smaller environment with more supervision.

We encourage you to contact our office, dahlrich@secc.org, before attending service so that we can properly plan for your child. Some parents also find it helpful to bring their child to our classroom for a weekday visit before attending on a busy weekend. We work closely with our Children’s Ministry to give each child the level of care that best fits their needs.

Additional events and information about a small group just for parents of young children with special needs are listed on our Special Events page.

For Teens

We currently have volunteers in the Block, our youth building, during the Sunday morning programming. They attend Lift at 9:00 a.m. Please contact our office, dahlrich@secc.org, so that we can help our volunteers be prepared for the teens who attend.

See more on our Special Events page about monthly respite and summer camp especially for teens with special needs.

For Adults

Adult Weekend Groups for those with disabilities meet at 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays as an alternative to the worship service in the Sanctuary, and Sundays at 8:00 a.m. preceeding our 9:00 a.m. worship service. Both classes provide a time of Bible study and fellowship. Friday Night ALIVE (Monthly Respite), Camp Freedom (Weekend Camp), and SHINE (fall formal) are all special events that encourage fellowship for teens and adults. More information is on our special events page.

Connect with other parents of children with disabilities over a cup of coffee and fellowship. Join us on the second Sunday of each month between services to meet other parents who are experiencing similar life situations. This is a safe place to share challenges and frustrations as well as joys and successes. We will seek the truth of God’s Word and His promises as we strengthen one another for the week to come.
