NextGen
NextGen is the name we use to describe the families of the Middle School, High School, and College-Age Ministries of Southeast Christian Church. The heartbeat of NextGen Ministries is to Awaken a Generation to the Glory of God in order to have relationships with and worship Him, help others to know Him, and make disciples who make disciples. As a part of this Awakening, students are being challenged, equipped, and empowered to lead the church.
All three of the areas of NextGen Ministries work together to help students grow in their faith from the time they enter Middle School until the time they reach young adulthood. Each area of NextGen Ministries facilitates a a small group program in which students grow in prayer, reach out to the lost and disconnected, and challenge themselves and others to follow Jesus completely. Middle School and High School Ministries also have weekly worship gatherings. Other opportunities, like retreats and conferences, give students even more ways to connect to the NextGen community and pursue a more fully-committed relationship with Jesus.
Here are some details about each area of NexGen Ministries:
Middle School Ministry
The Middle School Ministry of Southeast Christian Church includes students in 6th through 8th grade. Primarily meeting on Saturday Nights or Sunday Mornings, Middle School offers Lift as a place for students to worship, learn God’s Word, and get connected into a committed small group. As well, The Mix is a workshop-style program that gives students an opportunity for interactive learning and engaging in various Bible-based topics. Middle School block parties, service projects, and the annual Believe Conference are just a few of the other events Middle School Ministry hosts to help students connect and grow.
High School Ministry
Southeast’s High School Ministry consists of 9th through 12th grade students from around Louisville. Each Sunday, in the Block, Collide is the gathering where students engage in high-energy, authentic worship, hear truth from God’s Word, and receive challenges to help them grow in their relationships with Jesus and others. During the school year, students meet in home-based C-Groups. C-Groups are grade and gender-specific small groups where students gather to pray, learn God’s Word, build meaningful friendships, and challenge themselves and others to follow Jesus completely. High School Ministry also facilitates retreats, special events, and the annual Bible & Beach trip with the high school community.
College Age Ministry
The College-Age Ministry of Southeast Christian Church is for young adults (18-24 years old). There are also House Groups, which meet in homes throughout the greater Louisville area. Here, college-age students become who Christ is calling them to be, while also belonging to a tight-knit group of friends. The College-Age Ministry is extended through retreats, college outreach, and special event activities as well.
