What was your career ambition when you were a child? Believe it or not, my childhood ambition was to work for a newspaper.
Besides your position at the Outlook, what are three other jobs that you’ve held? I picked tobacco for a summer, was as an usher at a dollar movie theater, and was a clerk at the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant.
Besides Jesus, if you could have dinner with anyone, living or deceased, who would it be? The Apostle Paul
What is one of your favorite smells? One of your favorite sounds? I love the cold, refreshing blast of waffle cones and ice cream when I open the door to Graeter's. And I love the sound of wind rushing through the trees in the fall.
What is a favorite item of clothing that you own? A pair of old, blue sneakers that I wear only around the house. They say “home” to me.
If you somehow inherited $5 million, what are the first three ways that you would spend some of the money? I'd buy my parents a new home, trade in my Nissan Sentra for a Porche, and buy a nice pair of sunglasses.
What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home? A remote part of Indonesia for a mission trip where our six-passenger plane landed on a dirt runway. I got off the plane, walked about 100 yards and spotted a coffee shop that was housed in a one-room shack. On the wooden door was a hilarious hand-painted sign that read, "Starbucks."
If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Blue--my favorite.
What is a favorite quote of yours?
I have two ... "Anything worth doing is worth doing well." and "If you can't get out of it, get into it."
Besides the Bible, what is a book that you would recommend to someone? "Inside Out" by Larry Crabb. There's no middle ground on this one. You'll either love it or hate it.
