About Camp Freedom

Camp Freedom is an action-packed weekend designed to help campers age 10 years and older with an intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disability experience Summer camp in a way they most enjoy. With a large team of trained volunteers and a low camper-to-volunteer ratio, campers engage in exciting outdoor activities, including a zip line, archery, fishing, bonfires, and swimming in the pool and lake. Campers will also spend time growing in faith and worship. Camp Freedom is a unique weekend where volunteers encourage each camper to learn, play, and try something new.

Event Information

Camp Freedom is held at Country Lake Christian Retreat for those 10 years old and older with developmental, physical, and/or intellectual disabilities. For more information, please read the FAQs below.

Leader Registration

Registration

Registration will open at 12:00 p.m. on March 2, 2023 and will close for campers on June 19, 2023. Leader registration will close on June 19, 2023. Please make sure to register with your current email address, because this will be our primary way for communication for camp.

Pricing

Camper Cost: $225 with a $75 deposit due at the time of registration. Balance is due two weeks before camp. Financial aid is available, and the application is filled out during registration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do sleeping arrangements look like?

Campers stay in the bunk houses with their volunteer leader.
Campers and leaders do not share beds.

What kind of supervision will there be?

Each camper will be assigned to a volunteer leader who had been screened and background checked. The volunteer works within a team of other volunteers to ensure each camper has full time supervision.

Who can attend Camp Freedom?

Anyone age 10 and older with a developmental, physical, or intellectual disability.

What kind of medical care is provided?

We have a medical team who stay on site with us for the length of camp who oversee medication and other minor medical procedures. Please contact our staff for questions about complex medical care or if this is your first year at camp, please contact us to discuss if we are equipped to handle medical needs.

Can Camp Freedom accommodate special diets?

Our kitchen staff at Country Lake can meet the needs of most campers. If a camper requires additional accommodations, we'll be happy to store and administer food brought by your family.

Can someone with a wheelchair or limited mobility attend camp?

Yes. We strive to make all aspects of camp accessible.

Can family members attend with a camper?

Yes. However, they must complete our volunteer background application process. We encourage parents to take advantage of a weekend respite during camp.

What do campers need to bring?

A full packing list will be sent closer to camp. Please bring communication and mobility devices if needed.
