BC // Women's Abuse Group
Bullitt County
Abuse can show up physically, psychologically, and emotionally. We can easily identify physical violence as abuse. However, psychological and emotional abuse can sometimes be difficult to spot. Some relational dynamics that can show up in abusive relationships are walking on eggs shells and not having the freedom to express yourself or make your own choices. If you see these unhealthy patterns in your relationship(s), whether in marriage, dating, or friendships, and you would like to understand them and learn healthy ways to respond, we would like you to join us Tuesday evenings beginning October 11. We would like to walk alongside you to provide support and guidance on ways you can navigate this difficult journey. Please email care@secc.org to connect with the facilitator.

At the Well
Blankenbaker
At the Well is a class for those who have participated in Encounter groups with the purpose of gaining a next step into community. However, anyone may attend. This is a fellowship of the hurting who are looking to be challenged in their spiritual and emotional growth.

Are you certain you are ready to deal with relationships again? Are you ready to be vulnerable and overcome your fears? Real-life issues are addressed with topics on compulsions, trust, true love, loneliness, grace, forgiveness, bitterness, hope, self-control, joy vs. happiness, self-examination, beliefs, true intimacy, worship, transformation, brokenness, and fear. This list is not exhaustive but relevant to the issues faced by those who are wounded by circumstances in life.

It is a forum of participation, not passive teaching. It is a place to hear what God has to say about where and who we are in Him. It is the next step in your support and recovery experience.

Lamentations 3:40 NIV says, "Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord."

Bullitt County
Join our 8-week home group as we go through a guided journey of learning to trust God with your deepest parenting questions.

There’s nothing wrong with good advice―but today’s moms need so much more than that. We moms are crying out for true wisdom and strength that will teach us how to parent our kids well, and to help us navigate challenges and cultural issues previous generations never saw coming.

The Bible tells us that the beginning of wisdom is knowing the Lord. And that’s right where the journey to becoming MomStrong starts.

Join Heidi St. John in this 6-week Bible study based on her popular book "Becoming MomStrong." Each week, you’ll find stories from Heidi, Scriptural reflections, encouraging Bible verses, and prayer prompts to help train your own heart―and your kids’―to know Scripture, hold Biblical values, discern true teaching, and develop Godly character.

Women's Group // Good Boundaries and Goodbyes Bible Study by Lysa TerKeurst // Malone and Miller
Bullitt County
Love should draw us together, not tear us apart.

Is it unloving or selfish to set a boundary? And what does the Bible instruct us to do when a relationship is no longer safe or sustainable? Lysa TerKeurst has asked these hard questions in the midst of her own relational struggles.

But after thousands of hours of counseling intensives and theological research, Lysa has discovered that good boundaries pave the road for the truest version of love to emerge within the relationships that make up so much of who we are and what we want the most.

Building upon and further unpacking the Scriptural concepts in "Good Boundaries and Goodbyes," this 6-session video Bible study (streaming code included) with Lysa will equip you to:

• Determine the appropriate amount of personal and emotional access someone has to you.
• Stop being misled and emotionally paralyzed by wrongly interpreted or weaponized Scriptures.
• Overcome the frustrating cycle of ineffective boundary-setting with Biblical principles and practical strategies to help you communicate, keep, and implement healthier patterns.
• Be equipped to say goodbye when a relationship has shifted from difficult to destructive by studying three types of goodbyes found in God’s Word.
• Receive therapeutic and theological wisdom you can trust directly from Lysa’s Christian counselor, Jim Cress, and Proverbs 31 Ministries’ Director of Theology, Dr. Joel Muddamalle.

920 // PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones)
Blankenbaker
PAL provides hope through education and support to parents of addicted loved ones.

Each session includes two important parts:

1. An educational component that offers tools for parents to use when trying to save a son or daughter from addiction, including ways to help them in a healthy way rather than enable their addiction.
2. A support component, a time for parents to interact, sharing what has worked—and not worked—for them in their community.

Not only is the physical and emotional health of parents improved, but in many cases their adult loved one reduces or stops their misuse of substances.

For more information, you may contact the group facilitator, Gene Butcher, at 859-539-5353.

Teen Support
Blankenbaker
Life is hard, especially in our teen years. This group is specifically for those ages 13 to 17 who are dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, and relational struggles. Students who would like a place for safe sharing of difficult topics are invited as we learn from and find support in one another. The group is facilitated by a number of competent young adults who have a heart for this generation.

Requirements for Attendance:
● Teen and parent/guardian must review and fill out this registration form. This must be complete PRIOR to attending the first group session on September 8, 2022.

Requirements for Group Participation:
● You MUST be AT LEAST 13 years old and AT MOST 17 years old to be in the group.

● All group sessions are held on Thursday evenings at the Blankenbaker site. Group starts between 7:30-7:45 p.m. to allow worship service attendees to arrive. As a courtesy to facilitators and other group members, please arrive no later than 7:45 p.m., as you may not be allowed to enter after 8:00 p.m. The group ends at 8:45 p.m.

● Group facilitators are NOT responsible for your teen before the group’s start time or after the group session has begun. Teens are not allowed to wander around the church building and should remain in the Atrium outside of the group time. Building security staff may address these situations if they arise, but please assist us in keeping your teenagers safe and pick up / drop off at designated times. We appreciate your help on this matter.

● Confidentiality is important in keeping this group a safe resource for all teens. We ask that all topics discussed be kept amongst group members. Exceptions to this request are: plans to harm oneself or others, possible ongoing abuse of minors or elders. In these cases, we reserve the right to break confidentiality and report to the proper authorities. These situations will be addressed individually and away from the group to maintain privacy. Our goal is to support you in the best way we can with safety for everyone in mind. Parents will be notified in appropriate situations.

● By attending this group, teens are committing to participate when appropriate and to unpack the emotional burden of life stressors with each other. This is not a place to “hang out.”

● This is NOT a professional therapy group. If your teen needs professional support, members of our Care Team can provide resources.

● Each group session begins with a quick review of group rules/guidelines for any new members. These rules/guidelines serve to provide an effective and therapeutic environment. Disruptive behavior will first be addressed with individual teens then with the parent/guardian. If disruptive behavior continues to affect group expectations, your teen may not be allowed to return.

● Parents are not permitted to attend the group session.
Will not meet over the Summer (June-August). We encourage these individuals to join the Summer Workshop.

Meet and grow with other like-minded Christian men who would like to kick off the weekend (every other week) with prayer, some Scripture, and fellowship! We will build a group of "I know a guy" men who are willing to help when the church needs us with any project in our community! We hope you will join us every other Saturday beginning February 4 at 6:30 a.m.
Every other Saturday
Starting: Feb 4
Widows Community Group // Listening to the Voice of God // Brumley
Bullitt County
We believe you belong here, and we want to help create a community of women healing and walking through loss, whether that loss was last week or ten years ago. Scripture is clear that the church is called to "care for orphans and widows in their distress" (James 1:27). Our church family wants you to know you are loved and seen at our campus.

We'll start with the study "Listening to the Voice of God" by Margaret Feinberg. Every woman has grappled with questions like, "How do I know if I m following God's plan for my life?" or "What does God want me to do in this situation?" Whenever we face challenges, struggles, or important decisions, our first place to turn is to God. But who hasn't struggled to discern God's voice just when we need it most?

God's Word tells us that He is a lamp unto our feet, but lamps often only illuminate our next step forward. As busy women in today's times, we want to run ahead of God and seek from Him not a lamp, but a spotlight. "Listening to the Voice of God" will teach women how to slow down, wait on God, and hear His voice through all the clutter of life. In doing so, we can walk with peace and confidence down the path He has set for us.

We will study the gardens in the Bible and will take a closer look at the parables and teachings of Jesus on plants, trees, weeds, and seeds.

Fight Your Way to a Better Marriage
Bullitt County
No matter how much you and your spouse love each other, eventually you’re going to fight about something—sex, money, kids, time, in-laws. Have you disagreed about any of these? No matter what you’re in conflict about, it’s not fun. Feelings get hurt. Misunderstandings happen. Emotional walls go up. Hearts close down. It’s a real problem. But what if conflict was actually healthy for your relationship?

This series can help you and your spouse see disagreements differently and use conflict to learn about each other and strengthen your marriage. This 6-session event at the Southeast Christian Church Bullitt County Campus will combine live and video teaching to help couples use conflict to learn about each other and strengthen their marriage. Cost is $10 per person to cover your workbook.
