Almost all of us are broken by sexual sin in some way or another. No matter if the wounds are self-inflicted or caused by those we’ve loved and trusted, we celebrate knowing that God’s grace and mercy can give us a fresh start and new beginning.

Sex was God’s gift to us, to be enjoyed in marriage. While a selfish marriage can cause a husband or wife to be more susceptible to sexual sin, intimacy between them in a covenant relationship can unveil God’s good design for sexual satisfaction.

People will risk everything to satisfy their sexual urges only to find themselves more unsatisfied than ever. Before going further down the path of lust, ask yourself where it is leading. Pleasure or pain? And how much will it cost those around you?

After temptation leads to lust, David confronts what he has done and who he has become. We can learn from his example why we do what we never thought we would as well a healthy way to respond to sexual sin when we’ve committed it.

We are stronger together. As we face trials of many kinds, a community of believers is what helps us stand firm. We must not neglect being together, confessing our sins to each other, and encouraging one another as we see the day approaching.

So much of giving into temptation is the instant pleasure, but God has given us a way of escape in every season so we can walk in a life of true purpose and freedom.

Trials and temptations are all around us. That’s why the book of James warns us to play it out, to consider how temptation could lead to full-grown sin that devastates so that we can experience the good things God has promised us.

Often, we don’t know God is all we need until He is all we have. The currents will come, but they can lead to greater reliance. When we call for help from God and His people, we can find the strength to weather any currents that come our way.

For seven days, each step of God’s people became a greater step of faith until He delivered Jericho into their hands as He promised. In God, we can find the strength to face whatever walls stand before us, experiencing a life of abundance.

God called His people to celebrate what He had just done after leading them across the Jordan. There is a strength and courage we can find when we look back to remind ourselves of the great things God has done, that He has given us the victory.

As God led the Israelites over the Jordan, His presence, represented by the Ark of the Covenant a thousand yards ahead, remained close enough for them to know He was with them but distant enough to grow their faith.

While the other ten men who explored the Promised Land gave a negative report, Joshua and Caleb were resolute that with God they can face whatever stands before them. By faith, we learn to trust His promises when the plan doesn’t always make sense.

We have an idea of what marriage will be like, but what if our expectations aren’t realistic? We want a love that lasts but may not even know what to be looking for. God has given us a picture of what marriage is for and what it should be like.

While there are countless marriages consisting of people just going through the motions, there are real ways this pattern can be reversed: when husbands and wives learn to cherish one another in proven, loving, and everyday actions and words.

How would you define your relationship with Jesus? Close enough for the benefits but not to require sacrifice? He wants completely committed, radically resilient, sacrificially sold-out followers who will give their lives to His everyday mission.
